Developer’s Toolkit
TailorPro combines powerful features to create simple solutions. Now even more software providers recognize and promote our Non-Invasive Customization paradigm! We encourage you to speak with our customers who have been developing their own TailorPro customizations for years. Every TailorPro customer is a reference! Ask how easy it is to embed new functions or change business rules, add new fields or indexes, and change the flow and format of existing screens, without touching the core application programs or schema. Taken together, you can powerfully and simply adapt your application to do whatever your business needs.
Since 1999 TailorPro has been fully successful meeting every customer’s requirements for new and revised functionality. That’s why we say: “You need to do what?! No problem. You can TailorPro that!”

New and revised business rules
Commercial business system applications typically limit you to built in, generic validation and processes. But your business needs to force validation or a procedure based on your unique business rules. TailorPro allows you to block fields, validate fields, change default values of fields, check security, display warnings or create hard stops, based on your own rules. You can force a process or prevent one, with context sensitivity, without customizing the application. You can make your data more accurate by ensuring the right values are put in the right fields the first time. Imagine not having to enforce convoluted data rules through training, instead trusting the application to handle them behind the scenes. You can even have training screens and procedure reminders display when and where you want.
For example, remove a credit hold automatically to allow sales order processing to continue, under specifically limited circumstances. Add a management over-ride requirement to problematic inventory transactions. Stop creating complex paper work-arounds to enforce the business rules most important to your organization and embed them directly within the application.
All these rules can be context sensitive. Different business units usually have different requirements, different ways of operating. It’s as though each business unit needs to run its own customized version of the application. Run just one version for everyone with TailorPro. TailorPro’s context-sensitivity supports different screens, different rules, different limits and possibilities as appropriate, all within the original application.
New data structures
Often your business requires new data be tracked in new fields, and most businesses are justifiably loathe to modify their database schema. TailorPro lets you design the fields and indexes that you want to add to a table, and invisibly stores those changes in the TailorPro database, never altering your original schema. TailorPro takes care of the data integrity between these tables, across databases. Safely extending your data structures however you need couldn’t be simpler.
No matter how many fields you want to add, or which indexes you need, you can create them and let TailorPro manage it all. You can create a one-to-one relationship with the original table, or maintain a new one-to-many (or many-to-one) relationship. And you can write new screens, reports or lookups based on these fields and indexes just as though they were part of the original schema. Simply and quickly create your own business intelligence solution, auditing, or application extension with TailorPro’s extended data structures.
New in-line screens and revised screens
Generic screens require the user to manage unnecessary complexity. TailorPro can disable fields, alter the size and format of fields, relocate or hide fields, and re-label them. TailorPro allows you to easily change just about anything you want in an existing screen, including the tab order. If you have screens that are unused in your application, TailorPro can “skip” them for you. Simplify data entry for your users, reduce the keystrokes required, and make the screens match your business process.
If you have custom data to capture, or a bolt on application to integrate with, you can add screens in-line to an existing flow. Link applications dealing with external data, such as credit card validation, tax lookups or barcode information directly into the flow of an existing screen, creating a seamless interaction for your users.
New in-line screens can also be used for:
- Error messages, e.g. If the data context precludes a given user from proceeding further in a command.
- Training information, e.g. The first three times a user gets into a command it will display training information particular to your business.
- Complementary information to assist with the current transaction, e.g. when entering a Sales Order you are be made aware of open SO’s, or past due SO’s for that customer.
Display any information that will assist your business processes!
